Good news! Craneridge has been awarded grant funding from the Western New York Land Conservancy to help protect our Eastern Hemlock trees from Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA), an invasive insect that threatens these important trees.
Based on previous surveys, licensed professionals from Ecos Cooperative will be treating selected Eastern Hemlocks on and near homeowner and common properties over the next 7–10 days. Homeowners near treatment areas have been contacted directly.
This is the same treatment approach that has been successfully used on nearly 500 Eastern Hemlocks in Craneridge over the past two years. Treatments are performed by licensed professionals following all New York State regulations and product label requirements, and each treatment provides protection for approximately 5–7 years.
Protecting our hemlocks is a long-term effort, and additional treatments will continue in future years as needed. This management approach is widely used throughout Western New York, including in county and state parks and conservation areas where HWA infestations have been identified.
Thank you for your continued support as we work to preserve the health and beauty of Craneridge’s woodlands for future generations.
